Re: Wednesday - mm/dd/yy

Rikor.jpg Jimmy wanted good looking so here I am cutting the grass with my 22 month old great grandson. You can see who's driving the mower. The mower is the like-new $75.00 yard sale find. It sure beats using the Ransomes professional mower - I gave that to my nephew so he can start an after schoo...

Re: stripping paint?

If the shell is plastic you can try brake fluid. It's and old-time modelers paint removing tool. Soak the shell until the paint gets wrinkled and remove it with a stiff brush. Then wash with soap and water to remove all traces of fluid. If you're GREEN you can try Simple Green. I've had limited succ...

Re: Saturday - shazam!

Another day without a photo. Nice Mike Pearsall painting Tom. I like Ted Rose's work but, to me, Mike's work had "soul." I have a print of a Ted Rose painting on the wall in my office. The scene is a B&M passenger engine crossing the lift bridge at Manchester by the Sea in Massachusett...

Re: Finally Friday

Silflor_Demo#5.jpg In Germany I watched Albert Rademacher carve realistic rocks in pink Styrofoam. Albert is the man who invented and produces Silflor and the MiniNatur line of scenery products sold in this country by Scenic Express. He used just a kitchen knife to make this rock diorama. There's a...

Re: Thursday - right on!

No picture today. I finally was able to pick-up my Red Hook kit from Doug at Fos. It's been on order since the EXPO. I now have the time to check it out and consider the next step. I'm thinking combining a Red Hook building with another Fos kit in the Canal and 3rd box (I think that's the name) to m...

Re: Wednesday - Yay!

Edaville tickets053.jpg Hal got me thinking about Edaville and all the time I spent there as a young man. Here's an adult ticket from 1965. It was good for one ride around the 2-mile loop of track. I heard the other day that the new owner has reduced the ride to one mile and is building houses on t...

Re: Monday - woo hoo!

FSM Ad.jpg I saw this in the weekly Model Railroad Hobbyist advertising mailer. You get these bi-weekly if you subscribe. George has been selling these same 100 kits for the past two months. Maybe he overestimated the market. AND, he won't take credit cards. I never bothered with credit cards until...

Re: Sunday the 9th

Thanks for the photos Randy. I love Ireland but have only had the opportunity to go there once. I have a model RR friend in Beauford, County Kerry, on the southwest corner. I have used his house as a base of operations. Everything is very easy going. It's a drinking man's (person's) country.
