Re: Help with researching freight car information

MASSIVERALPH: About an hour after I posted this I was looking through a Model Railroader and came across an article about the meat packing industry, in the article I saw that they had referenced the Railway Equipment Register. I did a Yahoo search for that and I received a lot of hits about the regi...

Help with researching freight car information

Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays to all. I hope your holidays are going well. I kinda have a self-imposed dilemma on my hands. Every year I come out with a Christmas list for my family so that it is easy for them to get gifts for me - Christmas is when I get a good stock of train equipment. This ye...

Re: Layout surface and roadbed.

Hello Roger and welcome to the forums. I am in the very early stages of building a layout also - a little 5 x 9 to refresh/practice my modeling. I am also using the foam/plywood method for the table top. I saw a video on Youtube where they used Weld Wood Contact Cement (Green Can) to glue the foam t...

Re: Critique of work...

Very nice job on both. Perhaps just do some touch up on the blue and not really worry about the vines, unless, of course, you want to add the vines. Overall two very nicely done models.

Steam engine/tender weights

This is probably a stupid thing to talk about but it is something I have been curious about for a long time. I model mostly with steam engines and have been curious to know what is the best weight for an engine and tender? For example, I remember when Athearn came out with their Genesis Mikado and t...

Re: Brass Repairs and Painting, Part 2 for MASSIVERALPH !

Tom,

Does the speaker sound suffer or do you get an un-natural "rumbling" sound (like a blown speaker has) with the frame/cone cut to fit the tender? If not then I have a new way of installing speakers in my tenders.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers,

Scott

Re: Steam engine in 1960 ???

You can always run excursions with steam engines or make a tourist line that runs steam engines. Like MRDawg says its your railroad you can do what you want. Just have fun and come up with a story as to why there are still a few steamers left on the railroad.

Cheers,

Scott

Warren Buffet - a model railroader

Was surfing the interwebz when I came across this Yahoo video of Warren Buffet singing "I've been working on the railroad". I didn't know that Warren Buffet was a model railroader. Warren Buffet sings the hits I would think with him being the billionaire that he is the layout would be more...
