The slide switch needs to be center. The spring is pushed into the brass actuating lever and the slide switch, solder the spring and the brass. The spring is free to rotate in the switch. A throw bar is needed to go from the slide switch and pass through the layout fascia board. This was the most difficult part to find
Years ago we replaced all out metal hangers with plastic and just recently the plastic was moved out to make way for wood. A local yard sale yielded a dozen -- free
Thye lady had no idea what I was talking about when I started to explain

OK I get it now - you need to solder the spring to the brass tube in order to get the throw on top to move the same way, right? Or is it a friction fit? I get how the spring works with the switch but if there's no solid connection between the brass tube and the spring it looks like it's going to have a hard time holdign the points in place.
