Venetian Blinds

How do you use your computer in the hobby?

Venetian Blinds

Postby IowaFarmBoy » Tue Mar 06, 2012 9:32 pm

I was working on window treatments in CorelDRAW tonight and came up with several that I exported to a JPEG. I hope someone else finds this useful. Individual blinds can be copied and pasted to a new image.

Neat venetian blinds, Larry! I like the ones that are more 'real world' and get crooked at the bottom.

Here is a picture I resized and printed out on onionskin paper to represent an old time pull-down shade:

And here it is in a building window:

One piece of modeling software that I have is Window Designer from Evan Designs. It does curtains. It also does nice straight Venetian blinds. The blinds I posted were some I made in CorelDRAW Blinds are nice regular geometric shapes that I can easily replicate but making curtains just might be beyond my abilities. I will try though. :D

Some of the older plastic European kits that were imported by Walther's (I think Kebri or Vollmer) included a crude sheet of printed window treatments that included blinds and curtains. I scanned the sheet once and when I find the JPG I'll post it here. They give a "finished" look to a model.

The blinds look great!!

So does the shadow girl Gnat!!

Farmboy, any chance you could put those blinds on a black background? Wondering if they would look better than trying to cut them out!!

Either way, they look good.

For curtains, I just save a lot of pictures off the internet, and insert them into an Excel worksheet
using the same procedures as the Excel for Signs thread shows.
That way, I can resize them to fit whatever window I'm using.

I have tried to make curtains but using images from the internet is a better plan for me. There are a LOT of curtain images out on the internet. :)

Here are the blinds with a black background as requested.
