We watched American Pickers the other night when they were in Memphis. They met Prince Mongo and picked over his collection. Throughout the show I wondered if Jaime had ever met up with Mongo. He is the eternal mayoral candidate in Memphis.

Sun is out now but I'[ll be doing more work inside. My little plumbing task was successful yesterday.
I do enjoy Mike's train photos from England. That's about all the training I get nowadays.

Howdy.

Prince Mongo lives in my side of town. We drive past his house a great deal. They should have come pick my Uncle Pete's house instead.

Photo above sent to me by Gnatshop.

Fridays are a wonderful thing.

Prince Mongo, I wonder if it is the same Prince who has occasional residence here in Ponce Inlet, about two miles from us? Didn't see picker s sow not. He has a local lawyer to defend him from lawsuits . He had truck loads of sand dumped in yard and decorated with cloths lines hung with ladies undies, bras and toilets. His defense free speech. Go figure.

Spent some more bench time working on a Grandt Line refer for John Mancuso. I think I mentioned he switched from two foot to three.

Fridays are truely a great thing!!

Today's pic shows one item I received from John, a conversion he made from an n-scale engine. He added a new cab and other details. I like it.

Prince Mongo is David Hodges. He is a character.

Here in Memphis Prince Mongo is indeed a perennial mayoral candidate. Also, he owned a beer joint downtown and he did not run off teenagers consuming alcohol therein. Eventually a teen left the beer joint one night and drove home too intoxicated and had an accident. Prince Mongo lost the beer joint.

Mongo is famous for letting his properties become overrun with weeds and trash.

One summer Mongo dressed in a fur coat, hired a hot air balloon and dropped lots of money from the ballon to the ground.

Mongo claims to originate from the planet Zambodia.

I'm not making this up.

Last night my friend invited me to his buddy's place. Train tracks run through his property and I guess 4 or 5 trains went through while I was there.
Didn't get any shots of the train or tracks but did snap a couple of one of the bridges across the creek and a large stone wall the tracks are on. Place was amazing.ImageImageImage

Today I sent in my resignation letter for my current job. I'll take some time off to help care for my mother, who fell and messed up both shoulders a couple days ago. But I won't be selling pencils for food, I have another prospect within the Military-Industrial Complex that should come through later this fall.

Now that I finished that little shack, I need to decide if I want to dig out a big project, or tackle another little one, knowing I'll be "interrupted" by trips to my mother's house.

Jaime, I know you are not making it up. The first time he did his shenanigans the local rag had a big article and traffic was around the block. He left for destinations unknown. When gone the city removed the truck loads of sand and other assorted items. On his return he put everything back and sued. Now I getting worried, Jaime a model railroader has the Prince near him and we have him here, could it be something in the air around model railroaders??? Hahaha --just kidding

Good morning everyone.
a little light rain last night, supposed to be wet all weekend. :)
That just helps the weeds. :(

Think I can squeeze in some modeling today. :)

I never thought I would read about prince mongo on a railroad forum.
I grew up I'm memphis. While in high school price mongo became famous

Some of my classmates knew the guy. Some thought he was cool
Others thought he was nuts.
