Thursday

Morning Everyone,

The good news is that I don't have to work today. I was going to fill in for a coworker and he called and said he would work. Yea, now I get to cut the grass. After that who knows!

I need to finish the Frisco so I can move on to other things on the other end of the workbench!

Have a great day! :D :D

Morning Tom and others to come,

Not terribly busy day at work, as it stands at the moment. I'm hoping to get home on time and continue a build I actually took a baby step on last night. I painted a few pieces of Paw of a Bear's Curtis Brothers Plumbing Supply (in N scale). I'm pacing myself on purpose to really see if I can do a better, more attentive job on the gaps, details, etc. My history is littered with passable, but rushed work and bursts of progress surrounded by months of inactivity. So far, so good!

I'm actually pondering turning it into a much larger building. My favorite kit of all time (as a viewer, not a builder) is G. Wiliker's. I love that whole genre of ornate, complex (probably unrealistically so) design. Maybe whimsical is a better word. I ordered a Bar Mills 1-Kit and I'm considering giving myself an unprecedented challenge and "scratch-bashing" a much bigger "centerpiece" structure-even if it takes a year. I've never done anything like that and it's got me juiced to see what I could do. Even "large" N scale kits don't have that FSM/SRMW size that overwhelms trains and surrounding scenery (like you see in HO).

Credit this board for leading me to think I can do it....(or blame this board!)

Good day everyone.

Tom, when you get done mowing your yard how about you come over and mow mine. You can even help yourself to a Popsicle from the freezer in my garage.

Long days (11 to 12 hours) at work for me this week thus far. I am soooo glad the week is almost over. I've got a FOS One Tower at home I'm trying to finish up. I last spray painted the windows with Tamiya for plastics. The castings were still shiny afterwards.

Today is election day here in town. I've done my civic duty already. They have early voting here in town so we avoided the long lines.

Good Morning Everybody! Good news is....I'm working today!! Those paychecks help to finance all of my fun stuff, as well as paying bills, etc. I'm heading over to Robert Seckler's place tonight for a work session (need to confirm still), which is always a good time. Other than that not much going on in my railroading activities. Have a great day all.

My favorite activity - color matching.

I tried watching Doug on Jimmy's Pennsy camera but it was off for some reason. Just the sound was on - boy did I get an earful!

They never called to review the Pennsy plan - that means Jimmy is making it up as Doug builds. In my neck of the woods it's called "Dancing in the Dark." Maybe that's why the camera was off!

The Governor of Mass., spend it all Deval, announced that from now on it's illegal to use the word "retarded" in Mass. It seems the word is being removed from all sources. So, from now on, when I call Scott retarded on a podcast I'll be breaking the law. I'm going to re-read the Constitution. Something really smells in Mass. My rights have been trampled on again.

I've been fooling around making palm trees. I'll post photos when I get enough to show off.

Big parade in P'town in an hour. Everyone will be there.

I'm off to enjoy the day...

Morning all,

Gee, for me it's day five in the new building here at work. For the guy that repairs the Vending Machine (soda) it'll be the forth day he'll be here working on the new machine. I've managed to get my daily Diet Coke out of the machine twice since I've returned from vacation. X(

John - take your time, enjoy the process and you'll do just fine. One of these days you may have to decide between switching to a larger scale or purchasing an Optivisor. Then again....you might as well purchase an Optivisor anyway. Sooner or later you'll need it even if you do switch to a larger scale.

I did spend a little more time at the workbench last night. About an hour brushing on some weathering powders, gluing a couple of chimney's in place, etc. Nothing major but a little progress none the less. Inching closer and closer to wrapping up building one of three in this kit. :D

Have a great one!

Can't do anything anymore without my OptiVisor, and I'm only 49! Working on a German midget sub and without those specs I'd be gardening!

That's friggin retarded! More like "Progressive Retardation". Man, it's getting to the point that we won't be able to insult one another anymore. Hmm, maybe that's it. Deval doens't want people to start making "Deval Patrick is Retarded" bumper stickers. Nip that one at the bud before the masses get wind of it.

Dave, you're always refreshing.

Making teeth today. Yipee! Really, Yipee! I don't want to end up in the unemployment line because then I'd have to go full time MRR manufacturer. :o Teeth pay better.

Well, off to the internet to try and figure out what's really happening in the world, HA.

Strange, I have studied WW2 alot but did not know midget German submarines had seen battle (even though they were not very successful. Did the compulsory solder joints on the curved trestle yesterday (did a bad job but with some filling worked), you need good light to solder well .
