Tuesday the27th

Postby JMancuso » Tue Mar 27, 2012 4:40 am

Good Morning...

I've been gone all week in amazing Colorado and I've got the SBG coming by on Saturday morning - I better get to work.

Colorado is like being in a 1:1 layout with dramatic features. The sky looked fake, solid blue with no clouds. The mountains were overly dramatized like giant shark's teeth. There were "trainy" features everywhere - old mines, including the famous Argo mine I've seen modeled in the Gazette numerous times along a main highway, lots of heavy modern traffic. We visited the Colorado Railroad Museum which featured multiple geared locos, galloping geese, a large HO club layout, etc. Around the corner from our condo there was a rotary snowplow and a tiny steamer parked on the side of a residential road. I also made a quick trek to Caboose Hobbies while in Denver. I was able to do all of this without the family even realizing this was a train-related trip!!

Also managed to survive snowboarding, dogsledding, snowmobiling, tubing and all the other stuff meant to kill Floridians!

Glad to be back...John

Wow. John is up at 4.40am and he's on vacation? See... I told you them N scalers are a wild bunch! Probably never even went to sleep. Or is he home? Back to work? Bummer!

I got Tom's model yesterday. I have to laugh because it was sitting on my front porch, with all the "FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE" stickers upside down. Yup. Even the address label was on the bottom. Why do we bother? Those stickers must mean "TOSS THIS" in postal language. Alas, all arrived a-ok. Top had it packed and prepared for war and we won this round. Tomorrow I'll bring it down to Doug's and we'll (I mean he'll) carve some rocks around it.
