Thanks!

Jimmy,

This is really a very nice structure and I'm glad you picked up the line or building. \:D/ \:D/

I really like your analytical approach to this build, first measuring each component part and posting the photos. This is going to be a great thread for anyone that has not built a craftsman kit. This first step is one often skipped or glossed over in many build threads because the modeler assumes that everyone already knows this or trusts the manufacturer has done his homework and all the parts will fit flawlessly. I enjoy following your build threads, and almost always learn a new tip or technique. I will be following along and am really looking forward to your progress.

Jerry,

Thanks very much! Since this is a test build for Jimmy, I made it a priority to check the walls and window, door opening. I must admit I'm one of the ones who takes this for granted. =)) =)) Thanks again for following the thread. I learn something my self when reading the other threads here.

ReadingBob wrote:Great job, as usual, Tom! This also illustrates the benefits of having a manufacturer spend the extra time and effort to have someone build a new kit and provide critical feedback so minor tweaks can be made before the general release. I'm sure it must be tempting to rush a kit like this to market, skipping this critical step, but for manufacturers such as Jimmy who don't rush things it really makes for a much better kit building experience for the buyer. That's something that's not forgotten the next time they're shopping for a kit. Kudo's to Tom and Jimmy! :-bd

Butty Bob,

Thanks as always my friend! I agree with you that the manufacturers on this forum are very conscientious when putting out their kits. The three kits Jimmy has Karl, Jim and I building will give him the needed information to make this another one of his top notch kits. :ymapplause:

See you this coming Saturday! I have lots of show and tell.

Never mind these guys. Just include some 1/4" wide stripwood trim - to cover the gaps.

If anyone tried to build the Toadsuck Cannery you'll know what I mean.

Dave,

I've never tried to build the Toadsuck Cannery; however, there may be something in the Toad(suck) aspect of the name! =)) =)) Just kidding, Toadsuck Cannery is a beautiful structure. By the way, Jimmy should throw in 1/32" stripwood instead of the 1/4"! :)) :))

Rebel,

Thanks for following. I built a structure and posted a thread on this forum of a kit that required me to almost kit bash/scratch build the whole structure to get a decent build out of the kit! ;)) ;))

Ok, picking on us Arkansas hillbillies again ! :D :D The original Toadsuck Cannery was issued by a company named
Arkansas Valley Scale Models, named after a real life location. There was a nearby river crossing where the Toadsuck
Ferry operated. Conway, Arkansas still has an annual festival called Toadsuck Daze!

See what kind of useless crap us hillbillies have stuck in the back of our heads. =)) =))

David,

I guess the next logical question is, "Do any toads actually get sucked on those daze"?

I have a cousin who lives near Conway. I think she is married to my other cousin Daryl! =)) =))

Legend says:
What does "Toad Suck" mean anyway? Well, the answer is quite simple... Long ago, steamboats traveled the Arkansas River when the water was at the right depth. When it wasn't, the captains and their crew tied up to wait where the Toad Suck Lock and Dam now spans the river. While they waited, they refreshed themselves at the local tavern there, to the dismay of the folks living nearby, who said: "They suck on the bottle 'til they swell up like toads." Hence, the name Toad Suck. The tavern is long gone, but the legend and fun live on at Toad Suck Daze.

I think one of those river men is my long lost ancestor, probably one that married his sister by another mother! =)) =))
