More neat details! What did you use for the "greenery" for the flowers?

Hi Jeff

Good question. For the pink petunias in the window box, I wanted to simulate a hanging plant, so I used Woodland Scenics tree foliage, which is green foam on a fiber mesh. Just a couple of loose strands from the bottom of the bag is all you need for a flower box. For the yellow flowers around Aunt Lucy's House, I added fine green Woodland Scenics foam to Silflor grass tufts. I zapped them with hair spray and dusted the foam over them.

Funny thing about the WS foam, I bought these packets as a little kid in the early 80s when I lived in Baltimore. Still have the Stonleigh Cycle & Hobby price tags on the bags. The stuff is decades old, but still good as new.

Dave,
Flowers and radiators look great.

Any chance the radiators will be available in 1:48 for us On30 modelers?

Dave,

Those radiators should be perfect for my CB&Q Oregon, IL Station project. Last night I measured the clearance under the station windows and it is 42" so these will be just right. I already have some station benches for the waiting room and the men's and women's lounges, so these radiators will help fill in another detail in the station waiting room area. Sent my order in Sunday evening.

Thanks, Dave! Yeah RR station master's offices and waiting rooms are exactly the sort of applications I had in mind for these steam radiator models. Also signal tower interiors, with all those 2nd floor windows, its so easy to see inside them, and the pot belly stove doesn't always work. Bit of a cliche by now.

My first attempts to manufacture a radiator detail was with my Atlas Signal Tower upgrade, back in 2007, but they weren't good enough to include in the kit. Took a few tries since then to get the design right!

Dave

PS Speaking of station master's offices, I'm working on appropriate desks and chairs. I may have them partly cast in resin, to keep them simple. Still experimenting.

Dave,

Both of the desks look really nice. The top one with the chair looks like it will be perfect for my agent's desk located right under the trackside window of the Oregon, IL station. Would it be possible to offer the chair with arms, sorta like a captain's chair? Let us know either through e-mail or the Kit Forums Vectorcut thread when they will be available.

Thanks, Dave S. Tucson, AZ

Small update with, something for the N scale people

Set of 6 steam radiators, for interiors or scrapyards. That's a penny in the photo as a size reference. These are 3d engraved, two parts per model, assembly is so simple, there are no instructions. Just glue the parts back to back and paint.

Just a note to say communications will probably be down a while after Hurricane Irene passes through.

UPDATE-- 8/29 all is well, business as usual.
