Hi All
Starting on the HO scale cabin and thought I'd run somethings by you. Can do it a few ways one with Northeastern B&B siding ( I don't like it my self), do a plywood or Laser Board substructure with Board on Board siding or cut cut stud walls and put the boards on them. If I do the board on board would supply random width boards for the walls.
For the siding I can cut the B&B from 1/64 ply with peal and stick something like on the N scale mill Jan is doing or just use strip-wood with the peal and stick on the sub structure and glue on the bats.
let me know which you'd like to see.
thanks

Rich, I definitely would like both the boards and bats stick and peel, I know thats not possible in N-scale but would prefer that in H0, I think one of the best things in the Mill kit is the use of the substructures.

O scale kits and more

Postby rslaserkits » Mon Sep 17, 2012 1:40 am

Hi All
At the Narrow gauge convention we released a few new kits in O scale. First was the Jack's Cabin water tower, the Randolph depot and the potato house. They will be on the web site this week but can bee seen on our face book page

I also had the HO version of the derelict passenger car there and it was a good seller. Plus a HOn3 version of the MOW car. Will get photos of it soon.

On30 18 ft decks

Postby rslaserkits » Wed Dec 26, 2012 7:30 pm

We just released some decks for the new Bachmann 18 foot cars. These are for the Flat cars but should work as well on the Gondolas as they look like the same casting. Will know about the tank cars next week when I get some in.
thanks

Been playing with some lasered lap and scribed siding that has the board ends and the infamous nail holes already in the siding, One nice thing is on the lap I can have any spacing and random laps . Plus can have sheets up to a foot wide so no wall splices. Here is a shot of the HO lapped let me know what you think

The siding looks good, but frankly I'm not fond of the nail holes. This would work well for a well weathered building, but you'd need additional work (pulling up boards, etc) to make the siding "match" the nail holes. Have you tried doing this without the nail holes for comparison?

I agree with Dave although I am a rookie builder. Adding the nail holes makes the siding look to "busy." Jim :o3

I've also abandoned nails holes as not being realistic. Also, the butt joints should fall over the studs, which on your wall do in most cases but some don't.
I like to cut my own butt joints, depending on where my stud spacing ends up; sometimes 16" OC, sometimes 24" and sometimes something else.
If I ever add nail holes again, it will only be randomly and definitely not on a painted wall.
I do like the siding though.
