Folks,

Just various shots of the room under construction. Photo captions should sum up the labor. Doors are sliding pocket doors so the door swing didn't take up VALUABLE layout and aisle space.

Thanks,

Bob

Here's the last photo set for the evening. More to follow in the days to come.

The PC green spots at the bottom of the painted walls mark stud positions for ease of attaching bench work framing to the walls. It worked out well....saved a lot of time not having to measure and find studs.

Thank you to all who have welcomed me to the forum. I haven't taken the time to reply to each of you; however, I value your guidance to date and I know you will provide more as time goes by. I recognize most of you through previous posts I've read. You all provide positive guidance and motivation...no negativity and this is great. This is the reason I chose to join the forum.

I joined a local railroad club last year. This has given me the opportunity to run trains and meet others who show the same interests. We meet twice a month and open the railroads to the public. I found that my modeling skills are on par with the club members who actually built and sceniced the railroads.

I have been busy renovating my home in addition to preparing to build this layout. I can't lay a piece of track until I finish building the 45 cabinet drawers and doors to complete the kitchen. Yes...45 One is complete and the other 44 are in mass production. I may have them completed by March...earlier if I didn't have to work to pay for trains. I need to finish this task to remove the woodshop surronded in plastic from my railroad room. No completed kitchen cabinets equals no space to finish the bench work and lots of dust on all of my equipment.

Future photos will show the messes I've moved from corner-to-corner and side-to-side. I have organization now, but you won't see that in photos for a while.

Thanks agan,

Bob

Envy, envy, envy, must be so great to build a trainroom from the ground up. I can imagine a lot of planning went into this build before you laid down the concrete base. Thank you Bob for what I think will become an Epic thread.

Folks,

So far all of my photos have been railroad room construction. Time to share a few structure photos and more benchwork construction.

I am still working on the exact track plan, so I had a couple of structures out to take some mesaurements and have a look- see at where industries should be placed. The following photos are of the Walthers kit, New River Mine. I named this business Roczen Gravel. This is pronounced "Rock-Zin." I had a friend with the last name Roczen who lived in the neighborhood where I grew up. This rock crusher is named after him and it is also a play on words; i.e. Rocks N' Gravel.

I placed some "coal" hoppers at the facility...I know this isn't a coal facility!!! I just grabbed some hoppers I had out for the test fit..

Here are photos of the space under the benchwork. This path alows access to wire the layout and any other work that needs to be performed from the underside. Lights and outlets were installed as part of the room plans.

The layout is a walk in design; however, I did put in a wide duck under to have a short cut through the layout space. This will allow greater flexibility during operations.
