WOW Jan, you are up early today...good morning and to all that follow....well, I got most of my list of "required tasks" done yesterday...now lets see if others that are required to do their part are up to the task....not much in the train room front for me today....looks like we missed the snow they were calling for, so I am working in the yard....

I picked up nothing at the Great Train Expo yesterday. Very busy, but nothing I couldn't live without. Hopefully get a lot of modeling done today, cause it is going to be a full work week, and won't get much modeling done during the week.

One lane underpass out in East TN.

Howdy folks!

Jan is everything OK? You are up awful early. Is the sun even out in the left coast?

Pictured above you see a railroad one lane underpass. This one happens to be controlled by a traffic signal. There is another one close to my folks' house that is not controlled by any signaling. This one above is also close to my folks' house.

Here is the accepted practice for approaching the one lane underpass not controlled by any signaling (which the one above was when my folks first moved out to East TN):
1. As one approaches the one lane underpass one toots the car's horn to advise oncoming traffic of one's approach.
2. One stops at the entrance of the underpass and listens for oncoming traffic's horn toots.
3. If there is no oncoming traffic one proceeds across the underpass.
4. If there is oncoming traffic one takes turns crossing the underpass.

I'd hate to think what happens when the train is passing above the underpass. It would be too loud to hear any oncoming traffic.

I've seen one other one lane underpass near Nashville. It is not controlled by any signaling either. Are there any out your way?

By the way, pay no attention to the bumper stickers on the car stopped at the traffic signal.

Morning, all.
It's a beautiful Sunday and I'm at work. There's a one lane underpass in Ames, Iowa where two of my kids went to Iowa State University. Fortunately, they rarely needed to use it. Kinda scary, though. Hope this doesn't end up like last Sunday, when everyone came late and they got out an hour late...

I'm up really early too. NOT. It's 9am almost? Wow! I was up really late working on a project for Mr. Lumbermill Grove. The deadline will be fast upon me and there is no stretching or giving at all with him. "I Want It Now Grove" I call him. And the details... My Word! Could he make it any harder? He calls me "Dumbo" because he pays me peanuts. I'd better get back to work. He will be calling me saying "Get off the forum you good for nothing lazy time waster..."

In serious news... Got some more work done on the new kits yesterday. Today we make big changes downstairs in the production room. We need to get ready for the crew. They'll be here in a few weeks. For what?

More on that too follow...

I see Jimmy's ad at the bottom of this page touts a new girl every minute. That's a pretty fast turnover. Where do they all come from, and where do they go? Maybe they all work for Jimmy. He must be making a fortune from all this business.

It's time for me to load-up my Kindle so I'll have reading when I'm on vacation. It has 52 books on it now. Many of them are technical manuals and software tutorials plus the usual best sellers. I booted-up Calibre so I could move several books from my wife's Kindle to my machine. And, I had Calibre do a net search for free books. It found hundreds of thousands of them. I selected several classics I hadn't read plus several others and loaded them on the Kindle.

Calibre is a great (free) program if you like to read - it works with all file formats and reading platforms - to convert book files to the format of the reading machine you're using. If you have an iPad, Nook or Sony Reader, Calibre can convert books to work on it and you can turn books into PDF files, MOBI files or anything else your machine needs.

My computer crashed yesterday and I lost many of the current video files I was working on. Today I have to try to restore everything or poke a stick in my eye, whichever comes first!

Jaime, here in Massachusetts the Mass-holes will just barrel on through. To Hell with manners - I'm first and don't you forget it! Move over. Do you know who I am? Don't honk at me or you'll get a middle finger salute.

That's it - woods walking time...

I think we used to have a few around us when I lived in PA but they were all "daylighted" and turned into two lanes when the tracks were no longer being used. I wish I wouild have had the foresight to take pictures of things like when I was young. Then again, a roll of film and, on top of that, developing costs, weren't always within my reach financially. You gotta love digital cameras!

The weather messed up my plans yesterday. I thought it was going to rain so I'd get to spend the day at the workbench. It didn't so I spent the afternoon catching up on yard work. :ymtongue: Today, however, I only have one minor chore to take care of and then it'll be off to the work bench for the rest of the day. :D

Have a great one!

We experienced this "hospitality" out in Pee-bitty back during The EXPO 2011. Jeff Grove drove us to the F&SM and he was kind to let folks over in traffic. Not one Bay Stater waved "thank you" back at us. Out here in The South it is common practice to wave "thank you" when someone lets you into traffic.

I guess it is a good thing we didn't get the local salute of choice after all =))
