So my filing system sucks :o) But think of all the surprises one comes across when searching through boxes full of stuff one has forgotten about =))

Maybe I can talk Lisa into letting me hang one of those cool pegboards in the den. That way I can just hang all my toy train goodies on the wall and have them handy and in clear view.

...a local hunt club uses the property for it's fox hunt, and today was one of the hunts, it's amazing to watch these dogs work...I wish I could get a good picture of these guys flowing over a rock fence in pursuit of a fox....there are 40 dogs in this gang....one interested fact I didn't know....that the run dogs are normally "hounds" which can mean many different breeds of course, beagles, blueticks etc. and the horsmen carried a fox terrier (we have one...) in a rear pocket of their jacket....when the hounds found the fox, the terrier was then used to go into the burrow to retrieve said fox....the reason for the cropped tail on a terrier was so they could easily pull the terrier and fox from the burrow....I never knew that....no matter how old you are you never stop learning....

That's it - woods walking time...

We experienced this "hospitality" out in Pee-bitty back during The EXPO 2011. Jeff Grove drove us to the F&SM and he was kind to let folks over in traffic. Not one Bay Stater waved "thank you" back at us. Out here in The South it is common practice to wave "thank you" when someone lets you into traffic.

I guess it is a good thing we didn't get the local salute of choice after all =))

In Northern VA we have a mixture of Southern (or Midwestern - most polite place I drive is Pittsburgh*) and Northeastern drivers. Whenever one of the latter, particularly driving some big-assed SUV or truck, tries to intimidate me, I just look at them and say, "You can't scare me. I learned to drive in Mass." :-w

Afternoon, all. The only "one-lane underpass" nearby is in Merrimack, MA where the B&M's branch used to cross over a little rural road until it was abandoned about 1968. The girders were removed when the track was taken out, but Merrimack never came up with the money to remove the abutments and straighten the road. Now everybody on the street wants them to stay (think of it as a super-effective speed bump and 18-wheeler deterrent) and a little wooden bridge for the walking/biking path that uses the roadbed now sits on the old granite abutments.

Great story - reminds me of Arkansas coon hounds let loose on a coon hunt.
My favorite coon hunt story is by Jerry Clower: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AX9QoFhEhI
