Darryl , the world is small, I just saw that you are from Salmon Arms, one of my brothers played hockey for the Shuswap Totems about 30 years ago, I myself was not that far from you 2 years ago while playing Golf near Kimberly , Cranbrook and Radium. Haven't been to Cuba yet though, on my list of places to visit.

You guessed it!! That is the one we were on. Still running and puffing steam.... when not broken down. I would have loved to spend more time and get a lot more photos and walk the line and bridges as they are great subject matter.

Wow, that is fantastic. IF you ever get out this way again, let me know. Would love to meet you and show you around the abandoned railways out here in southern BC. The Totems are still going strong as well!!

By the way, what part of the Netherlands are you in?

=)) The Netherlands is not large enough to be in apart of it =)) , But I live in the most southern part near the German city of Aachen, about 75 km from Köln and Eindhoven is 90 km's north. The city is Heerlen, there is a Awacs airforce base about 7 kms from the golfcourse where I work, and the AFcent Brunssum is 2 kms away, I meet Brits, Americans, Canadians, Norwegians every day in the shop. It's a large golf resort, 45 holes with hotel. http://www.golfbrunssummerheide.nl

Well, that little countryto the south west is even smaller!!!

Intertesting that you are form Heerlen. My Grandfather was born in Genk, near Hasselt, Belgium, about 30KM from you. We were just in the area about 4 years ago when my father wanted to go to Belgium and the Netherlands to see the family that is still there. Strange how the world gets smaller and smaller!!!

Nice golf course by the way!!

When we lived in N. Delta BC, we did a weekend trip into the interior and drove through Salmon Arm before heading down to Kelowna. I remember it as a very attractive town.

We really enjoy it here. The lifestyle, weather and scenery is a great improvement over Calgary, Alberta. Though we did enjoy it there as well, we certainly don't miss the -30C winters!!
