Poured concrete walls would match fairly well. A "pooch out" made of wood would make a nice contrast if there's room.

If you are going to make a "modification" to the building, why does it have to match the existing bricks. ?
It could just be boarded up or blricked up.

Concrete Blocks? Pikestuff makes some modular sections, cut out for a steel door or something.

I have a little bit of room between the building and the tracks, but not much. On the side of the building there's lots of room. I had this idea of a boiler room with a small smoke stack for heating the building. That's as far as I've got with it.

Why not an open shed where they would keep large trashbins and loose trash till it gets picked up.

I like your idea of a boiler room and Jan's idea of a trash bin. But railroads don't pick up trash!

How about a narrow roofed loading dock (weathered and the roof falling down)?
Kinda matches the boarded up front of the building.

Or just freight doors level with the box cars that stopped for loading, Maybe Tichey for freight doors -
mark them at the right height and size on the rear wall, then wet the hydrocal wall with an eye dropper,
and scrape an indentation with a #17 X-acto chisel point blade or something similiar.

There is no siding at this building. It's just part of the city.

There are two, boarded up, loading doors already

I like Jan's idea. Maybe I can do both.

Jim, I guess the bricks don't have to match but I wish they did.

Jeff, I just don't have the room but maybe I can do something like that. I got to think.
