Do you know this kit?

Do you know this kit?

I need some help identifying a kit.

I built this kit at least 15 years ago. It was the last plastic kit I finished. It has bounced around many shelves and by now has lost many of its parts and details (gutters, downspouts, cellar door, porch railings, chimney, etc.). I had a lot of fun putting it together.

Here it is:

I want to say this is made by one of the German manufacturers (Kibri, Heljan, Volmer, Pola, etc.). But I cannot recall who made it. I kept the box that it came in but I cannot find it.

I want to find this kit because I want to build it again.

I liked that this kit had a printed card that folded to fit inside the kit's shell in order to server as the kit's interior. The window treatments were nice to me.

I think that with a little extra work (I put it together straight out of the box) it could make a good structure in a diorama or layout if blended in with other better kits.

Anwyay, do you know this kit?

Is it a Model Power Kit? or maybe one of the IHC offerings of yesteryear?

Hi Simon.

Those are good suggestions but I don't believe either of those made this kit. I distinctly remember this was a German kit. The instructions were several sheets of exploded drawings. I also remember thinking it was odd that a German maker sold an American farm house prototype.

Model Power made a Proto 2000 brick warehouse once. It was really nice. I built it as well and then bought a second one to build later. I think I still have the unbuilt one somewhere. All the other Model Power kits I know of were not as nice as this mystery kit.

I built many of the IHC offerings ad they came with lots of extra details but I don't believe they included the printed interior card. I considered forcing the printed card out of the kit's shell in the hope that it has a trademark printed on it. Also, it is likely the inside of the plastic shell has the kit maker's name cast onto it.

One other cool plastic kit was the Bachmann Spectrum Sears catalog house. I built that kit as well back when I first joined the hobby back in the late 1980s.

Anyway, I scoured the Walthers website looking for this mystery kit and could not find it.

It looks like Walthers now markets it as Cornerstone. Cornerstone was just getting started when I bough the kit.

Walthers has changed it. Note the porches roof is sloped now. There is one door missing in the front porch as well. Also there does not seem to be a printed interior card. And, the trim is not a contrasting color.

I was hoping to find the same kit I built. But hey, I was planing on changing it a bit any way so no biggie.

It still bugs me I cannot recall the original manufacturer.
