Most of you know me, and know what I do. I am a producer of educational DVD's for model railroaders. As a result of my DVD productions, I have become sought after to provide custom building of structures, scenery and entire model railroads. I also provide layout planning services and consultation.

Jimmy Deignan, Doug Foscale and I are the founders of the Craftsman Structure Show, a show devoted to those that manufacture, build and collect craftsman structure kits. November 13-15th 2008 will be the next annual show in Mansfield, MA.

Jimmy, Doug, Dave Frary and I are the hosts of "The Scotty Mason Show" Internet Podcast. Each month we talk about many topics related to model railroading and craftsman structure building. We also interview the top names in our hobby. You can listen to the show through our website: http://www.modelrailroadpodcast.com or http://www.thescottymasonshow.com

This fall, I will be releasing my first craftsman structure kit. I will post pictures and additional information on this site in the summer so stay tuned.

I received an e-mail yesterday regarding a "Paypal Shipping" tracking info....? I assume this is for the items owed from your Roundhouse kit (ie: DVD and some castings)?? Just curious.......

Thanks for your anticipated response.

Hi John,

Yup. I'm in the process of sending out the DVD and machine shop castings to everyone who ordered a roundhouse.

Hi Angela,

The O scale Supply Warehouse will be ready for the Springfield Show which is the last weekend in January. I don't have a price yet as the pilot model isn't even done. As soon as I know how much, I'll post the information here, and on my website, along with some photos.

Shipping-Free January

Postby smason2 » Thu Jan 01, 2009 9:24 am

Happy New Year!

For the month of January, all DVD orders will be shipping-free. Here's how it works...

Order any DVD(s) from my website, and follow the shopping cart through the ordering process. YOU WILL BE CHARGED SHIPPING (this is the way the system is configured). After I receive your order, I WILL REFUND YOUR SHIPPING RIGHT AWAY!

Here's your chance to bring your DVD collection up to date before the 2009 releases come out.

This offer is good for all DVD orders only until the February 1, 2009, and is not good for previous orders, or orders for items other than DVD's.

Thanks for all your support in 2008!

Hello Scott

I am interested in your DVDs. Can you tell me, does each DVD continue on from the previous in techniques? If I bought the first 2 "Building Craftsman Kits" DVDs, would there be different techniques on each DVD, or are the same techniques used on different structures? For a novice, would the 1st DVD be the best one to buy. I have a couple of scratchbuilt buildings I have built but the painting and weathering needs a lot of improvement. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Tom,
I bought both DVD's. There are some similar techniques on both, but lots of different material, too. IMO, the first had more on wood structures, less on brick. The second had more on brick, less on wood. I was glad I invested in both even though my interests lie primarily with wood structures. You might get a quicker response from Scott by contacting him directly. He has gotten back to me quickly any time I have contacted him directly.

Free Shipping for the rest of May

Postby smason2 » Mon May 11, 2009 9:39 am

Hi folks,

The USPS has raised its first class postage rates once again, so to celebrate the new-found solvency of the post office, I'm offering free shipping on all DVD's until the end of May.

Here's how it works. Order any DVD(s) from my website and pay the shipping charge. I'll refund it back to your credit card or PayPal account as soon I receive your order. It's as simple as that.

Remember, the offer expires at the end of the month, so act now. My shipping rates will be increasing at that time.

I sent text copy for a spot on your show, did you get it? I have never heard anything.... Last word could be changed to Butt if you have a problem with it.

Has your wife told you that you can't have anymore trains until you sell some?

Is your model railroad layout so covered with engines and rolling stock that there is no track left to run a train on?

Have you just got a new building, you have always wanted, but there is no room left on the layout and you have been told you can not expand it into the laundry room?

Have your interests changed and now you want to do a new layout in a different scale, but don't know what to do with all the stuff you already have?

Have your kids grown up and now the money they need to squeeze out of you is drawing blood?

Due to the current economy, are the kids wanting to move back home and bring their families with them and your wife said the only place that will work is where your train room is?

Has your wife yelled at you and said that you have more trains than brains?

Has your wife contacted a support group and they are planning an intervention due to your addiction to model railroading?

Have you tried selling stuff on the big on-line auction site but were shocked with the listing and seller fees?

Is that what is troubling you Buck-o?

Well, lift your head UP HIGH, pull that gut in, erase that frown on your face and take a few deep breaths, because there is HELP out there for you! Just ready and waiting for you is a model railroad auction site, run by model railroaders, with FREE listings and super low seller fees at UPbids.net.

Check it out today. This site could save your ass!

Went to your site a couple of times but saw only people that sell for a living, saw only one item listed that was not from a full time seller, the ebay fees are set up to try and curtail those thing, or I should say it used to be. Now ebay looks alot like your site but with more fees, kinda like train shows now, most of my friends have stopped going.

Thanks for at least checking it out. I have no control on who lists items on the site and unless they are bad sellers, all are welcome. It is many sellers that asked me to start this site because of the fees and other problems they were having on e-bay. I did and a great costs, it is there, as I promised the people who asked, and if people want to use it or find fault with it, I have no control over that. I was told by many that there was a great need for this and I am still waiting to see this need show up. You have no idea what it has cost to get this going and to promote it with ads, on-line and in many model railroad print publications.

E-bay has been there for ten years, I expect it to take some time for it to become what it can be. No matter what I do means nothing, it takes all the people interested in this hobby to want to give it a chance. Interesting that you formed the opinion that it is all dealers however, I have about ten items listed and another friend has a couple of great O-scale kits listed cheap and we are not dealers.:ar!
