The son of Pennsy part II

The son of Pennsy part II

Frary named it "The Son of Pennsy" - Scotty Mason called it a few other things, usually with curse word adjectives. It was the first expansion to my layout, The Pennsy Middle Division in HO scale. The layout, built in 1992 by Dave Frary for 9 issues of Model Railroader magazine. It appeared in it's own book. Then, in the summer of 2005, Scott Mason wrote about the fun he had rebuilding & expanding it.

This is really part III. But we'll call it part II. First, we cut up the scenery & prepare the layout for additional benchwork:

Hi Jimmy,
This should be great to follow. Please keep progress photos coming if possible (unless you're going to surprise us!)

Why do I have a feeling there will be an ebay listing later for "piece of scenery made by Dave Frary--VERY RARE!" :)

Hey Jimmy, listening to the podcasts I hadn't realized you had committed to where you were going to add to the layout. Is this the beginning of the much talked about wharf scene, and does this mean the mountain is safe? Thanks for the pics, looking forward to your progress.

Well Jimmy, it's about time!! For a while there I thought your influencing skills were getting rusty. Now that the saws are out and you have teased us with that banana shaped piece of the Pennsy, how about a rough sketch of the planned harbor. If you do not have one yet, no problem, make something up. And how big of a house addition are you making? We need details. Before I forget, I need that removed piece added to my layout, so will start the bidding at $5.00. Any other bids?

Looking forward to updates.

Hmmm... Perhaps you have an idea! Frary, next time you come over, bring a black Sharpie. I need you to sign something...

Yes doctor, I've decided for now the original Pennsy is safe. Although many changes have been made to it already (FSM Jeffries Point & Baileys Produce, FOS Scale's Fenimore Bros. Coal have been added to the original sections).
Perhaps a future expansion will involve the mountain removal. For now, no changes.

Jimmy,
I have plenty of these posters. Get it up on eBay to see what it's worth.
The poster was made for the Marlin Firearms Company as part of their worker incentive program.

One handsome Dude!
