Thanks for all the comments. Shopping carts, I didn't even think of that...does anyone know who makes them?, Model Memories maybe, in etched brass?

I'll be adding some more junk, some pallet loads...I'll post more pics when it's finished.

Doug,

First of all, looks great. You should show that scene to Lance.

Secondly, Lorne Perry at Gold Medal Models makes etched stainless shopping carts in both HO and N scales. They're silver, so you don't have to paint them . . . but every HD I've been to has orange carts! you also need the rolling flatbed carts . . .

Don't forget to have pallets of bagged compost, fertilizer/manure/rocks, warehouse shelving, and plants (scenic express bonanza), all surrounded by tall chainlink fencing, alongside the box store - no HD is without a garden center, and usually runs an entire side of the store. Hey! If you're gonna suggest something, why not something BIG! :D

Don't forget Norm and his bride loading up the van with plywood and pink foam.

I like it! :-bd Makes me think of Worcester, MA just off of the B&M, a Home Depot abuts the tracks there as well. You did an awesome job getting the HD feel... but you need more junk back there ...

LOL! That's WOULD BE a site to see... although now it's coils of 14 Ga wire and paint cans (for the layout AND our youngest's ex-room/new office). :D

Doug,
With your change and rip-out of all things 'modern' on your layout, whatever became of this store? Is it no mas? Did you save it for a diorama and possible display at CSS? I bet many of us (me at the top) would like to take pixes and if nothing else, maybe bid on it, for say the CSS fund raising raffle? Just a thought... there are a few modelers modeling the modern era that will be there.

I would also be intrested in seeing the pictures again. There is a Home Depot store just down the road from me that actually does have the BNSF main line running right behind it. I remember looking at Dougs pics of this at first and it looked just like the one down the road from me. Its nice because there are a series of parking spaces that also run along the drive behind the store a railfans will park there and have a perfect view of the 4 track main without having to get out of thier cars.
