John,

Is Mt. Rainier Scenic RR the one that is on the convention schedule the day before the convention begins?

Yes - I'm planning on attending. I also highly recommend the Whistler train up in British Columbia if you have the time. I rode it the week before the Portland Narrow Gauge. There are a few pictures in this thread.

Have you priced the plane tickets for Seattle? I didn't buy last fall because they were $400 Plus and I was sure I would get a better deal latter. Just checked and there up to $700. This could be the first Narrow Gauge Convention in a long time that I have to miss.

John.....

I think this is why they, like the NMRA, move around the country. Not everyone can fly annually to some of these events. I think I'll get there as my daughter lives in Portland Ore. and that is only six hours down the freeway from Boise. From there it's about three hours to Seattle. I don't envy anyone having to fly from New England or Florida to thing.

They are cool however. I particularly like their low key approach to things over the rigidity of the NMRA national. I've been to both and the NG people are just a different sort of people.

Bob

I agree that the Narrow Gauge is the best. Really don't want to miss it but I'm planning on the EXPO as my first priority this year and the travel budget just isn't going a far as it use too. I hope to find a way to do both.
